Pals

The old center of Pals is one of the most well-preserved medieval complexes in Catalonia. It is located on the top of a hill, which from the bottom of the town we can distinguish the wall and the Torre de les Hores.

The first signs of pals date from the ninth century, in the middle of the medieval era. The buildings that stand out are the Torre de les Hores, from where you can see the fields of Empordà and the Medes islands.

You can get lost in the cobblerstone streets of the old town, which will transport you directly to the medieval era and discover every corner, both day and night.

The charm of a town that year after year becomes an essential visit for those who visit the Empordà

Its name comes from the Latin "palus" which means swampy land, because formerly the municipality was involved with them.

Currently to enjoy the native flora and fauna of the area you can visit the Basses d'en Coll, located between the Masos de Pals and the Beach. A protected area, included in the  Montgri, Illes Medes and Baix Ter Natural Park, it is a marshy area, with dunes, fauna and vegetation, where you will find the fields of cultivation of the well-known rice of Pals. It is highly recommended to go on a bike or walking route.

Finally, there is the beach of Pals, characterized by its long extension, it becomes a perfect beach to enjoy with family and friend. With panoramic views to all our surrounding, you can choose between any of the leisure activities that are done there, windsurfing, voleyball... or simply spend a good time at one of the best beaches in the area.
